From Dallas, Bill and the kids 8th June 2011

How sad and unbelievable to be writing this for Richard. If ever there was a man who seemed to enjoy life and living it to the full, it was him. The hours we spent with him were filled with laughter and a wicked sense of fun. The last time we met at the Rufford Arms, he was sporting a nifty biker jacket, with which he was inordinately chuffed, having purchased it for a song! He looked happy and remarkably healthy, and that is how we'll remember him. Of course, like all of us, he was no saint (who would want to be that boring?): how like him, however, to bear his illness with such positivity and purpose. It's certain that those eBay parcels will be coming for some time and that he'll be busy cursing that he won't get to use them. I'm sure that he'll be with us somewhere, encouraging us to have a good time - only sorry he can't be joining in person. Cheers, Richard! You were one of life's true enhancers; we'll really miss you. All our love to your family, in whom you'll live on, as you will in the memories of your many friends.
